Frequently Asked Questions
-
The fit between therapist and patient has been repeatedly found to be the primary predictor of positive change across all psychotherapy modalities, meaning it’s the main ingredient. I suggest you consult with more than one therapist before starting and I suggest you pay attention to your responses to these consultations. Did you feel comfortable? Did you like the therapist’s style and demeanor? Were they appropriately attentive and boundaried in the call? Did they give you a chance to ask questions?
I offer a 15-20 minute call so that you can see how you feel talking to me before you commit to a session.

We’ll do a consultation call and then you’ll let me know if I feel like a good fit. Once we find a mutually agreeable time to meet, we will start weekly psychotherapy.
-
I meet with new patients weekly and ongoing patients weekly or every-other-week. I start with all individual clients on a weekly basis only, but will transition to every other week if we decide that it’s clinically indicated for you. After a completed course of treatment, I remain available to patients for as-needed sessions as openings are available.
-
You and I will continuously assess how therapy is going relative to the goals we’ve established at the outset of treatment. Once therapy is underway, initial goals are refined and new goals emerge, so it’s our job to keep track of these and whether we are making progress. Although progress in therapy is not linear, it is my job to help you be aware of whether you are feeling and functioning better across important areas of your life.
